Bingo, no alarm and the truck is easily taken. Most alarms wont work without battery power, a really good alarm will have a backup battery.
If you get a good alarm they won't be able to unarm it in under a minute (time span OP gave).

I agree that being stupid and leaving money laying around will get your stuff stolen.

The OP also said that he wanted a battery back-up.
