My 22r 84 5spd PU with 31x10.50s and 4.10s with open diffs is... Not so great. I can burn one tire real well in 1st, but it aint no where near as snappy as my 89 4R was. Constantly down shifting from 5th on the mildest of hills.
I'm just wondering how my 84 PU will do with its shiny new lincoln locked 5.29s and 35x12.50s Almost done...

At 60 miles per hour, according to my math, your 84 was turning about 2213 rpm with the 31's. And that was not so great?
With your new 5.29's and 35's you will be at 2529 rpm.
That compares favorably with what you liked with your '89 4R's 4.88's since it would have been turning 2474 at 60 miles per hour.
I would have gone deeper with the gears but it should be a nice balance for power and economy with the 5.29's. Congrats on your new setup.
