I don't believe in synthetics that much over conventional oils. I believe in frequency of changing fluids and better filtration. Engine oil needs to be changed due to the cumbustion process, not because conventional oil is worse than synthetic at lubrication. Contamination of the oil is the problem. Automatic transmissions are not exposed to this process so I have no reason to beleive that synthetic trans fluid will benefit me any more than conventional. If you change your fluids at the correct intervals, conventional lubricants work fine. If you extend your intervals, then synthetics are better. But ONLY if you extend the change intervals.
I ran my 99 Cobra with M1 for 10,000 miles and a filter swap between changes. Oil was fine, mainly due to changing the oil filter at 5,000 miles.
