All of the Jetta/golf/rabbit diesels up to 92 are 1.6L. There are also some 1.5L but I think they are early 80's. After that they are 1.9 TD's or TDI's . I don't know what I was getting with the 86 but it was in the 50's for sure and it was WAY wore out. I was running colored fuel in it as I got it for free
