1) Don't listen to the rednecks- keep it all Yota!
2) Ill also be looking at this swap when the ol' 3.0 gives up the ghost. I will be buying a wrecked SC400, I'd like to do the vvti version. I'm willing to put in the extra work, but I have a lot more resources than most ppl. For the tranny I'm planning on running either the Lexus auto with a Yota gear driven case adapted behind it; if this isn't possible plan B would be a 4wd Tundra tranny. These trannies will hold up, have the correct stall & ratios for this motor, and will be the least amount of wiring headache. I'm an auto guy so this works for me, if you have to have a manual you may be in for a lot of headache. I know that custom bellhousings and flywheels are availble from Australia, and they're expensive. I think they say that the (R150???) turbo trans will hold up, is that the one in the turbo supras ? I think over at Lextreme they have said that there are still computer issues to be worked out for the manual also. IMO just swapping in a rebuilt 22RE is your easiest route, but ultimately the decision is yours whether you want to tackle a big swap.
