correct me if i'm worng here. the top conical lug nut is for steel rims. only the tapered part of the nut is in contact with rim.

the bottom flanged nut is for aluminum/alloy rims. the tapered part does NOT contact rim, the flange, actually a washer is pressing down on the rim.

BTW, the thread patern is 12mm x 1.5 pitch.
