I use the Pharos GPS that comes with Microsoft Streets and Trips, it has a usb cord that I use with my laptop while on the road and a compact flash adapter so the Pharos unit will work with my pda (Dell x51v), both work great but on the pda it is kind of a battery hog.

for longer walks from the truck as well as for kayaking I have a Garmin Etrex Legend C for its replaceable AA batteries as well as its water resistance.
