I think 4:88's is just right for 33's with a manual. With that said 4:56's are certainly livable . If you must regear, I would find a bad rear (3rd) and rebuild it and find a wrecking yard factory 4:88 front . Then sell your 4:56s to recoupe you cost. BTW I don't think this is just offroad tech.
